Have you thought of the reasons your business isn’t growing right now? Well, if you’re reading this there’s two possible situations you’re in: a) you recently started out and have no idea what you’re doing, or b) you’ve been at it for a while but you aren’t seeing the kind of growth you expected. So what gives?
It’s tough being stuck and feeling like no matter what you do you are seeing no change in your biz. When you’re first starting out it’s even harder because the constant feeling of defeat and negativity consumes you. I know, I’ve been there. Several times. It wasn’t until I buckled down and started dissecting my business that I realized all the things that I had not been paying attention to.
So here’s a list of 5 reasons your business isn’t growing and what could be standing in the way of you and where you want to be.
1. You Haven’t Established Who You Are Yet
The way to create a successful business plan is to know who you are (just ask Moana 😛). I’ve seen a lot of businesses and blogs with mixed messages and no real direction to what they are doing or offering. You need to have a very clear idea of why you are doing what you are doing. What are your business goals? What is your vision? What are you offering? Once you have that 100% down you need to make sure that your audience is aware of that.
2. Your Branding May Be Working Against You
Branding, branding, branding. One of the main reasons your business isn’t growing could be your branding! A lot of people are put off by bad design or slow websites. Do you know if you’re branding is working? Most of the time I see sites with broken links, outdated graphics, unappealing color palettes or logos that don’t make sense with their message.
If you haven’t checked, do an overview of your branding, or better yet, have a friend do it for you. Is your branding attracting the right people? Is it representing who you are? Does it display your message loud and clear?
3. You Haven’t Narrowed Down Your Niche
Finding your audience is the basis of absolutely everything. When you know who you want to help, what problems they struggle with and how you want to help them, every single thing becomes so much simpler. Content creation, newsletters, sales, you name it! Everything revolves around your tribe.
If you want to grow your biz, start by being intentional about who you serve and how you want to serve them. Even if you’ve done exercises and workbooks about it and found a niche that seemed to make sense it may be time to do some soul searching. If you still aren’t seeing much progress, it’s highly likely that you weren’t specific enough or that your content actually attracts another audience.
4. You’re Not Using Your Strengths to Your Advantage
Did you know that millionaires have around 5-7 different income streams? That means that they have multiple businesses or one business with different channels where they get passive and active income. How many services or products do you currently offer? You many not be seeing any growth because you are not offering the right things.
Any business (product or serviced based) is trying to solve problems, AKA making someone’s life better through what you offer. I always see people holding back on creating more sales channels because they think one is enough or they don’t want to overload their audience. Well my friend, I’m telling you that you need to take advantage of EVERYTHING you are good at. Whatever you are passionate about, think about how you can make some moo-lah off of it.
5. You Aren’t Using Social Media to Your Advantage
Do you have a social media strategy? Do you mindlessly post everyday? I used to get panic attacks daily when 11 am came around and I still had no ‘perfect picture’ to post. Cut to me scrambling around to get some sort of decent image and write whatever caption came to my mind, press send and get the overwhelming anxiety that one one would like it.
If you don’t have a social strategy you are missing out. Everything you’ve done with no goal or clear vision behind is a waste. Social media is a powerful and free tool to get your biz out there. When you harness its power for good and use a strategy that works for you, you’ll immediately see your biz grow.
I myself mindlessly blogged and offered only one service, instagrammed and tweeted all the time with no clear strategy, thinking if I just create content it will be enough. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. It all works out because I learned a lot, I don’t consider them failures because it took me one step closer to my dream, made me realize what I liked to do, what I did not (and kept forcing myself to do), and how to craft the BEST and most EFFECTIVE business plan.
What are you struggling more with right now? I know my biggest one was social media. I want to know! Shout out in the comments below 🙃👇
