Crush Your Limiting Beliefs

Some limiting beliefs are helpful and positive, others hold you hostage from breaking out into the world of abundance. Here's how to change that.

Here’s the deal… every Dream that has ever gone to shit and labeled as yet another failure/sad attempt at changing your life, can be partially blamed on your subconscious limiting beliefs. Yup that’s right, we have found the culprit and caught it red handed!

Everything that has been holding you back, keeping you nice and cozy in your comfort zone, all those fears that cloud your mind and basically all your negative thoughts that act as a broken record in your head… all that bad juju, those are limiting beliefs.

Limiting Beliefs are Fueled by Fear

In a nutshell… they are sort of like programs in your head. The recurring thoughts and actions that you always think and take in situations. Your natural response coming from your subconscious.

More specifically, if something happens to you, the way your mind chooses to process the information and the meaning it chooses to attach to that situation will create your reality. Minds as powerful tools my friend, and it has the power to shape our reality whichever way we think it! So you can choose to either make it a empowering and lesson-packed experience, or see it as an anxiety ridden challenge you can’t possibly win.

My Subconscious Made Me Do It!

When we’re born we’re a clean slate, we literally have no idea about anything as babies, we’re pure chubby goodness. Yet somehow as we go through childhood we start programing ourselves to think and act a certain way based on the people and environment around us, those become our beliefs. I like to call them programs because they become your go-to reaction to things. It’s like you’re programmed to act (without even thinking) a certain way in situations. Like robots!

When you’re a kid, you take ALL information at face value. You’re learning and absorbing like a sponge! If you touched a hot stove out of curiosity, you probably burned yourself and learned not to touch it again… right? Right. And then Boom! It’s forever etched into your brain… stove=ouch!

Same goes for everything else… but it’s not always a good thing, it’s not always a hot stove. What happens if you grew up seeing your parents fighting over money? Your belief may become: Money=Fighting=Bad. That thought will probably get tattooed on your brain in your subconscious and now as an adult, it’s keeping you from diving into your very own money vault à la Scrooge McDuck.

Some beliefs are helpful and positive, others annoy the crap out of you and hold you hostage from breaking out into the world of abundance and they will stay there unless you take the time to reprogram them.

Crush Your Limiting Beliefs in 3 Steps!

Limiting beliefs make you function and respond from a place where you have set boundaries and limitations on yourself, AKA, your comfort zone. In order to reprogram them, we have to dig deep and find out what they are in the first place, then dissect them and sort of set your comfort zone on fire.

It’s like you’ve been under a spell this entire time and now it’s time to wake up and leave that zone ma friend! Like the fabulous Jen Sincero says: “The walls of your comfort zone are lovingly decorated with your lifelong collection of favorite excuses.” So be your own savior, wake yourself up from that spell and walk out of that tower.

Step 1: Identify the Bad Juju

Awareness is key. When you become aware of your thoughts and words, you can identify limiting beliefs in a jiffy! Seriously, it’s easy. Once I started listening to my thoughts and separated them from my true self, I became aware of the repeating patterns happening in my head. Imagine you have a radio in your head and the songs played are your thoughts. If you listen carefully, you’ll see that your comfort zone plays some of the same songs over and over again. It has it’s favorites…

I’ll just start dieting tomorrow, what’s one more pizza today? It won’t make a difference!
All the good men/women are taken, it’s not my fault!
Money is evil, it makes people pretentious snobs and I don’t want to be like that.
I just don’t have enough time to work on my side business.

They sound just like excuses don’t they? It’s because more often than not, they are. To become aware of some of your repeating thoughts, ask yourself this: Are you scared, impatient, frustrated, doubtful? When you feel all the bad juju, whatever you’re thinking at that moment that is producing those feelings, that is a limiting belief.

Step 2: Channel Your Inner Sherlock

Once you have identified the recurring thoughts, it’s time to analyze them like Sherlock Holmes is on the case. You have to question them, investigate and get to the root of the problem.

“It’s not your fault if you’re fucked up, it’s your fault if you stay fucked up.” – Jen Sincero.

So let’s change your reality and make up something awesome instead shall we? The way to do this is to shift your narrative, really question that limiting belief.

Old Limiting Belief: Money can’t buy happiness.
Question: What makes me happy?
Answer: Traveling with my husband, decorating my home, styling outfits and entertaining guests with specialty cocktails that I make, painting outside, going to Disneyland, visiting my parents in México, growing my business.
Question: Does money help me achieve any of these things?
Answer: Yes.
New Belief: Money supports my happiness.

By changing the narrative of dug up subconscious thoughts, you break the spell and allow good vibes to come into your life. To successfully reprogram your noggin’ you have to hold on to the new belief and start making that your new normal.

Step 3: Say it Loud, Say it Proud!

With your new belief in hand, you have to become aware of it and etch it onto your brain every single day. You had been holding on to your old limiting belief for YEARS, so it’s going to take some time for that to start vanishing and being replaced with your new, more awesome belief.

I suggest you repeat your new belief like a mantra every single day, every morning or whenever you find yourself inching back into your comfort zone.

Remember that you shape your reality, what you think and say will come true so use kind words. When you are consciously choosing your thoughts, beliefs and words… you are mastering your mindset, and master it you must if you want to live a life full of treasure, magic and abundance!
