To become the person you want to be you need to first realize that you already are that person. I know sometimes it can be difficult to love ourselves completley, almost to the point where we wish we were someone else. I remember a time where I was so unhappy with my life that I just wished I could fast forward into becoming the person I wanted so desperately to be. I often wondered why I couldn’t be that best version of myself, why I was always so indecisive and unconfident.

I’m sure everyone has their days of self doubt. Everyone has things they would like to change about themselves and more often than not, go about it all wrong trying to completley change the entirety of their being. But you see the truth is, you are already that person you want to be. You already have what it takes to be that best version of yourself. Sometimes you see tiny glimpses into that person on those days that you are totally rocking it and feeling like a badass. You have your own brand of magic that already is your best self, that person you so long to be. Amazingly beautiful, talented and unique. The problem is that fear is stopping you from fully embracing that version of yourself. Fear is often getting in the way and clouding you from becoming the person you want to be.

Become Aware of Your Best Self

First things first… you need to become aware of your best Self. Again, you already have that person inside you and you have what it takes to become the person you want to be! To become aware of it start by writing what you love about yourself in one column. Everything you like about your personality and traits. Next, in a second column, write all those things you aspire to be. You can take inspiration from people you admire and wish you were like. When you are done take a moment and look at your list objectively. Ask yourself… is this truly out of reach for you? It’s important that you become aware of everything that you can accomplish. Remember, only you are in control of your life and you have the power to change it.

Recognize What’s Holding You Back

Fears are always hindering our magic. Always holding us back from truly becoming that best version of ourselves. But what is really holding you back? Is it self-doubt? Other people? Fear of being judged? Failure? Well, you know what’s even scarier than all of those fears? Staying the same. You are in charge of your life and the only opinion that should matter is your own. I know in this world driven by social media it’s easy to compare ourselves to strangers on the internet… but when you put yourself first and take the time to work on your mindset, you can truly become that person you want to be.

Create a Roadmap + Take Baby Steps

Once you become aware of what’s holding you back, create a plan! Really consider what steps you can take to start being that person. If you want to be more adventurous… buy a plane ticket! If you are dying to be more joyful and less stressful, plan an outing that makes you happy! If you want to invest in your well being and become healthier, maybe reach out to a professional! Whatever it is, pinpoint a first baby step for you to start. Accomplishing one thing will set you up for success and boost your confidence knowing that you actually did it! When you try to change who you are by overhauling your entire life, it can become overwhelming. One small step to move you forward towards your dream life makes it more manageable.

Realize That Who You Are Right Now Is Enough

Remember that you have everything you need right now to be the best version of yourself. You are enough. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t where you want to be right now, that is not a reflection of who you are as a person. Try to live mindfully every day and do the best you can. You don’t need to be perfect and you do not need to meet anyone’s expectations (not even your own!). Becoming the person you want to be is in your control, you just have to be willing to work on your mindset first, be grateful for what you have and take it one day at a time.
