Hi, I'm Emmy!

After missing New York’s Mickey: The True Original Exhibition, I was SO happy when Disneyland announced the Pop-Up Disney! event. Smaller in scale but just as fun, I absolutely had a blast going through each of the rooms.

They have a total of 7 different Mickey themed rooms. It is not overly crowded and they let you stay in each room for a max of 30minutes. That’s plenty of time to snap all those photos for the ‘gram and really take it all in! We probably did the whole exhibit in an hour as there were no other people but us so we didn’t have to wait.

The staff is SO friendly. They are full of fun facts and trivia and will take photos for you as you go through the rooms if you ask! There is also a cool game you can play in each of the rooms. You know hidden Mickeys? Well this exhibit has hidden Minnies! In each room there is one hidden Minnie silhouette. Most of them are hard to find but the castmembers will give you some clues to get you started.

My favorite rooms by far were the “It was all started by a mouse”, which is the black and white Steamboat Willie room and the “Sorcerer Mickey’s Magic” which is a black room with lights and effects that remind you of Fantasia. It has the most sensory experience of the whole exhibit, between the lights, the music, the fresh smell and the animation, it was truly captivating.

I think that the whole exhibit does a good job in taking you through all the faces of Mickey. It kind of has this natural evolution from one room to the next that makes you really feel like you are a kid and an adult at the same time.

A bonus for me was finding this Mexican themed room with all of the papel-picado in a Mickey motif. It really made me happy to see a piece of my culture represented in this Pop-Up Disney! event. This was part of the “Mickey Around the World” room. There were only two photo spots here, this México themed one and one that was more Asia, like Japan. For a room called “Mickey Around the World” including only two spots was kinda weird, but this is probably my only complaint. It left me wanting more.

And last but not least, the “Mickey at Disneyland” room. I think this is the most popular room because you can take a photo inside a giant red see-through balloon. It was pretty cool not gonna lie, but my fav was the wall of Mickey shaped food! Because, well, FOOD!

I’ve been a Disneyland annual passholder for about 7 years and while I love the parks, I truly love when Disney does cool events to add on to the magic. The fact that it wasn’t crowded at all (like what I think the Museum of Ice-cream is like everyday), made it that much more enjoyable. We walked through the rooms in a breeze and took our time finding all the hidden Minnies. After that we went to grab dinner at the Lamplight Lounge and ended the day with fireworks! I totally recommend going to Pop-Up Disney! while it’s here.
